Migraine Headache

A migraine headache is a condition resulting in a periodic, intense headache, usually affecting one side of the head. The first attack commonly occurs during childhood, often during puberty and diminishes later in life. Adult women are affected more than men (headaches may subside after menopause). More than 50% of migraine sufferers have a family history of migraines.

Prior to the onset of symptoms, some people may experience fatigue, depression, mood changes, and changes in eating habits. (a few will experience the opposite effects, i.e. increased energy, etc.)

Diagnosis – Observation of aforementioned symptoms will be noted and should be evaluated by a physician. The evaluation may include a physical examination, blood tests, and CT or MRI scans.

Migraines are classified into two closely related types known as Common Migraine and Classic Migraine.
